Careers

Nobody here is passing through.

Forty-five years, same owner, and people here in their third decade. That tells you most of what you need to know about who we are looking for.

This is not a place to spend eighteen months on the way to somewhere else. We are not filling seats — we are hiring the person who will still be doing this work in fifteen years, and would rather do it somewhere that will still be here. That is why we hire slowly, and why we would wait for the right person rather than put somebody in a van next week.

It is also why the work grows. Nobody is hired into one lane and left there. A technician who starts pulling cable learns the switches behind it. Someone who starts on the help desk ends up being the person a client asks for by name. The people here who design networks and build servers did not arrive able to do it — they learned it on our clients' sites, which is the only place it is really taught.

What that needs from you is less about a certification than a habit: labeling the port nobody will look at until the day it matters, writing the ticket so the next person is not starting from nothing, telling a client the quote is wrong when agreeing would be quicker, and flagging in year three that the server needs replacing in year six. Unglamorous, all of it, and the whole difference between a business that runs and a business that copes.

We do not always have a position posted. We do always read what comes in. Tell us what you do using the form below — or write to jobs@paconnect.com — and it stays on file.
